Testing Options:
Invasive Prenatal Paternity test:
Invasive prenatal DNA tests can only be performed with the assistance of the mother’s OBGYN. This process
- Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS):
- This test requires a doctor to use a needle to extract a tissue sample from the uterine walls through the cervix or abdomen.
- It detects chromosome abnormalities or genetic disorders.
- This test can be performed between the 10th and 13th week of pregnancy.
- Amniocentesis:
- This test involves extracting samples from the amniotic fluid in the uterus.
- It also detects genetic disorders and chromosomal abnormalities.
Please note, using any of the options mentioned above to perform a paternity test carries risks to the fetus. For this reason, these procedures can only be performed to determine the paternity of a child. A DNA paternity test must be conducted in conjunction with amniocentesis or CVS.
Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test (NIPP):
Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing is a testing option that does not require an OBGYN. Samples are collected by blood draw from the mother. The fetal cells floating in the mother’s blood will be tested and compared to the alleged father DNA sample collected by cheek swab.
Currently we do not offer NIPP Testing as a service. Below are the DNA testing option available after the birth of the child.
